An edit reaches Photos.app

Allow Photos publishing to send a full-resolution edited rendering to Apple Photos when you leave a changed photograph.

Frames asks before the first publish. Publish is remembered and can be changed in the Photos source panel. Not now publishes nothing and asks again the next time you open Frames; switching publishing off for good is done in the Photos source panel. With publishing allowed, leaving a photograph with a changed recipe queues a full-resolution JPEG and adjustment data for Photos. Half-finished edits can therefore reach the library. iCloud Photos can sync the result to your other devices.

Publishing applies only to Photos-backed photographs. Folder photographs retain edits in Frames’ catalogue. Ratings and verdicts stay in the catalogue; the Photos rendering also includes recipe adjustment data.

The original file is preserved. Bypassed previews and unsupported repairs are not published. A required mask detection that fails, or needs an unavailable Select model, also stops publishing. The failure names the problem; Try again retries the photograph after detection recovers or the model downloads.

Revert in Photos. Click this button in Develop’s sidebar to restore the original retained by Photos. It has no shortcut or confirmation. Revert also removes adjustments made by another editor before Frames’ rendering. The change can sync to other devices.

Revert leaves Frames’ treatment, recipe and edited preview unchanged. Changing a control and leaving the photograph can publish it again when publishing is allowed.

The button appears only for Photos-backed photographs and remains available when the original cannot be opened for editing. It does not require a decoder. Revert runs as a named activity through the publishing queue and remains available when publishing is disabled.

Switching to ORIGINAL automatically reverts only a rendering published in the current session. Use Revert in Photos for one published earlier.
