Range masks

Create a mask from a brightness range or a selected colour.

Choose Luminance range or Colour range from ＋ in Layers. A layer is created with initial settings. Click its chip to adjust them.

Luminance range. Set Low, High and Falloff for the brightness band and its soft edges. Low and High cannot cross. The band can narrow to a hard threshold.

Colour range. Click Pick, then sample the photograph, or use the colour swatch. Tolerance controls how widely the colour matches. Sampling uses the photograph before adjustments, so warming the image does not change the colour the picker measures.

Press V to view the mask while adjusting.
