The colour mixer

The colour mixerEight colour bands appear above hue, saturation and luminance sliders. Green is selected. Initials identify the bands in this diagram.COLOUR MIXERROYGABPMGREENHUE+12SATURATION+34LUMINANCE−18
Fig. 5.8Choose one of eight colour bands and adjust its hue, saturation and luminance.

Adjust hue, saturation and luminance for eight colour ranges, or press H to select a range from the photograph.

The mixer sits below Colour. Select red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, purple or magenta from its coloured strip, then adjust the three sliders.

Slider at −100 to +100 Effect
Hue −30° to +30° rotation
Saturation ×0 to ×2
Luminance ×0.5 to ×1.5

Neighbouring bands blend smoothly, with weights totalling one. Setting all bands to the same saturation produces a global adjustment of that amount. Near-neutral pixels receive less hue adjustment to avoid colour speckles, and brightening rolls off near white.

Adjust from the photograph. Press H or click the target button. Click a colour to select its band, then drag vertically to change the active property. Near-neutral pixels are rejected because they have no reliable hue. The tool stays active until esc.

The mixer uses the cached decode, with a rendering cost similar to a Tone slider.
