Lens corrections

Use a lens profile or manual distortion adjustment to correct lens distortion before other edits.

Open the Lens group. If a lensfun profile is found, click Apply to add it to the treatment. The saved profile is a snapshot, so later database updates do not change existing edits. Click Remove to remove it. Opening a photograph does not apply a profile automatically.

Amount sets profile strength and defaults to 100%. Distortion, from −100 to 100, adds manual correction after the profile or works alone without one. Chromatic aberration appears when the applied profile supports colour-fringe correction and uses its fixed values.

Profile status. The row shows an applied profile with Remove, an available profile with Apply, No profile for this lens or No lens recorded. If the file supplies its own decoder correction, it shows This file carries its own correction and does not offer an additional profile. Detail’s Lens correction switch controls that built-in correction.

Correction slightly scales the image to fill empty corners created by the warp. Crop, masks and histogram then use the corrected image.

Repairs and dust. Repair and find-dust tools show the uncorrected sensor image. If you leave Develop with either active on a lens-corrected photograph, Frames skips saving a grid thumbnail from that uncorrected view.

Copying. A profile transfers only to photographs with the same recognised lens. Different EXIF spellings of the same lens are normalised. Other lenses and missing lens metadata omit the profile; batch paste reports the affected count before starting. Manual distortion transfers to any photograph.

Looks and imported Lightroom presets do not include lens corrections.

Frames includes the unmodified lensfun database under CC BY-SA 3.0. Its version appears in About → Acknowledgements. Leica M files have no embedded lens correction, so this group provides it.
