Undo, RESET, bypass and copying

Use ⌘Z to undo edits, RESET to clear a group and bypass to preview a photograph without that group.

Redo is unavailable in Develop.

Edit undo applies to the current photograph. Catalogue actions such as ratings have their own undo history. Treatment pastes and subsequent slider edits are undone in action order, as described in Versions.

RESET. A group’s RESET clears its adjustments for the selected Background, layer or applied look. It removes the operations rather than storing zero values. Unmaskable settings, including crop, RAW white balance and Detail, always reset for the whole photograph.

Bypass. A header switch temporarily disables the group without changing stored values or adding an undo step. It follows the selected target like RESET, including settings that always apply globally. Switching between targets changes the displayed switch, not the effect of existing bypasses on the canvas.

Background bypasses persist while moving through photographs and clear on leaving Develop. Layer and look bypasses remain with their photograph and treatment during the session. A photograph left with any bypass active saves no rendered preview and publishes nothing to Photos.

Select an applied look’s row to bypass individual groups within it. Your own adjustments remain active. Groups the look cannot contain still control the whole photograph.

Copy and paste. Press ⇧⌘C to copy a treatment and ⇧⌘V to paste. Across photographs, crop, repairs, decoder pin and unsupported RAW controls are omitted; the status bar reports losses. Within one photograph, crop and other photograph-specific settings are preserved. In Browse or Choose, paste opens a batch summary for the selection.

Saving. Recipes save 400 ms after the last change, and immediately when leaving a photograph or Develop. Quitting waits for current edits to save. If saving fails or takes too long, Frames stays open with Keep Editing and Retry Saving. Retry keeps the application open; quit again once saving has finished. The sidebar also offers Retry Saving for unsaved edits.
