Folding the device

On a folding iPhone, Frames arranges itself for the way the device is being held. Open flat it is the desk arrangement — the collections at the leading edge, the photograph in the middle, the panel at the trailing edge. Propped on a table with the hinge across, the photograph takes the upper half and every control moves to the lower one, where a finger can reach the curve and the colour mixer on a surface that does not move. Held like a book, the two halves become two pages: one photograph on each in Compare, the grid and the loupe of whatever is chosen in culling, and in Develop the original on the left page with the treatment you are working on beside it.

Folding and unfolding changes the arrangement and nothing else. The photograph you were on is still the photograph you are on, the zoom is where you left it, a crop you had armed is still armed, and a comparison keeps the pair you chose.
